A Dodge City man is facing charges of first-degree murder in the weekend killing of his wife.

Officers from the Dodge City Police Department were called to the scene just before 6am yesterday morning after reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers say they were approached by a 31-year-old man who told them he had just shot his wife. Further investigation revealed a 31-year-old female suffering from gunshots wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the woman died at the scene.

The male suspect was taken to the Ford County Jail and booked on charges of first-degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm.
