Montgomery County Agrees to Reimbursement Terms with KDOT

Montgomery County signs an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for reimbursement from the agency regarding a detour for an upcoming project.

County Public Works Director Brandon Beurskins says the project is expected to cause an increase on traffic on County Roads 5700, 4400, and 5500.

The planned detour would re-route traffic through Parsons causing local traffic to use county roads. Beurskins says the increase in cars will cause added wear and tear on those roads.

The agreement will cover additional maintenance expenditures by the county up to $148,000. The project is set to begin in the coming months and will close US-160 to through traffic for about 13 months.
