A boy is dead after falling from a bluff in a northwest Arkansas National Park.

Authorities say the 13-year-old boy was exploring near the edge of Brewer Bluff at Buffalo National River about 50 miles south of Branson on Saturday morning. Representatives from the National Park Service say the boy lost his footing and fell nearly 260 feet to the bottom of the bluff. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the boy was found unresponsive.

The incident remains under investigation by the Park Service and the Searcy County Sheriff's Department.
