An Ochelata man is facing criminal charges after allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
33-year-old Garrett Payton was charged yesterday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bartlesville Police say authorities responded to a disturbance and observed Payton attempting to enter a residence with a hatchet. Once authorities stopped Payton, he allegedly threw the hatchet on the ground and moved away from it.
After confiscating a cellphone in Payton’s pocket, they found a plastic bag of methamphetamine. The total weight of the bag was 0.7 grams. Also found were multiple syringes used for methamphetamine.
Payton plead guilty in 2017 to a felony count of failing to comply with sex offender registration.
Payton's bond is $5,000; his next appearance in court was set for October 29th.
