Candidates for ICC Board Look to Future of School

 

Candidates for the Independence Community College Board of Trustees look ahead to the future of the school.

 

At last week's cadidate forum conducted by the Independence Chamber of Commerce, three of the six candidates for trustee addressed the issue of the future for ICC. With many students who pursue post-secondary education choosing technical and certification programs instead of traditional college, candidates were asked abouit their thoughts about ICC's future.

 

Candidates Logan Null says he thinks proper funding for programs like welding, plumbing, and HVAC are the key.

 

Darnell “D.J.” Lawrie says he thinks research into what the school needs is important.

 

Candidate Isaias McCaffery says he thinks tech programs are a good additional but that there is still a need for a more traditional path to higher education.

 

Logan Null, DJ Lawrie, and Isaias McCaffery will appear on the November 4th ballot along with Jeri Hammerschidt, Cynthia Sherwood, and John Eubanks. To view the full candidate forum, follow this link.
