The biggest celebration of the year starts this weekend in Independence.  Neewollah kicks off Friday with a full lineup of events.

 

The first performance of the musical “Annie” will take place this Friday at 7 p.m., followed by additional performances Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 2. Tickets are available at neewollah.com or 311 N Penn Avenue.

 

Saturday will include a 5K and 10K plus a fun run at 8:30, followed by the annual chili cook-off and dessert competition. Independence Chamber Director Lisa Wilson says it's always a big event.

 

KGGF staff will be live from the event Saturday morning from 10 to noon on Classic Hits 104.1.

 

Neewollah Night at the Movies will round out the weekend with the showing of “Hotel Transylvania” at Independence Cinemas at 7 p.m.
