Neosho, MO, Announces New Police Chief

 

The City of Neosho, Missouri, has a new police chief.

 

Peter Russell has been named to lead the Neosho Police Department. Russell brings 17 years of experience to the position with a strong focus on community-based policing. In his new role, he will oversee all department operations, including patrol, investigations, training, and community outreach.

 

Previously, Chief Russell served as a Major with New Hampshire Police Standards and Training, supervising up to 120 officers and leading the creation of a statewide police ethics program. He also developed and taught courses on constitutional law and redesigned scenario-based training to strengthen ethical policing practices. He also worked in the Neosho Police Department from 2000 to 2011 where he served as a patrol sergeant and as an instructor on implicit bias.

 

Russell graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Missouri Southern State University, is POST certified in Missouri and New Hampshire. He earned his juris doctorate from Loyola University in New Orleans, where he previously held a Louisiana Bar license.

 

Russell officially took over his new duties on  October 8.
