Freeman Health System announces it will not build a new hospital in Frontenac.

The health care company made the announcement yesterday after analyzing the results of a recent feasibility study. Freeman broke ground on the proposed 50-bed facility in March. The original plan for the $168 million hospital was to help bridge the gap in healthcare in rural southeast Kansas.

Freeman cited that the study revealed significant challenges that prevent the company from moving forward with the project at this time.
