The City of Independence will soon be switching to a new trash service provider.

 

At last night's city commission meeting, Assistant City Manager David Cowen told commissioners that the change will happen soon. The City has not yet released the name of the new provider and the compnay has a few details to clean up before the change will occur. In the meantime, Cowan says the City's current provider has agreed to a contract extension to cover that time period.

 

Commissioner Dean Hayse asks about how the change may be affected by landfill availability.

 

Commissioners approved the contract extension with Resource Recovery on a 3-0 vote.
