Independence Museum To Hold Historical Walking Tour of Stich-Geurnsey Feud

One of the most sensational stories in Independence history is the tale of the turn-of-the-century feud between two of the city' s most influential families.

The fifteen year feud between the families of A.C. Stich and George Geurnsey will be the subject of a historical walking tour hosted by the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center this Saturday. The tour will be hosted by local historian Dr. Isaias McCaffery and will highlight landmarks in downtown Independence.

The bitter feud between the two business and political rivals was both a boon and a hardship for the city in its early days. Saturday's tour begins at the Independence museum on north 8th Street at 10am. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for museum members. Kids 14 and under are free.
