Kansas broadcasters gathered Monday night in Manhattan to award the best in the broadcasting profession for 2025.
A highlight of the evening for KGGF was the presentation of the KAB rising Star Award to Open Line Host and Operations Manager James Copeland. Copeland thanked a long list of those who encouraged him and inspired him in his broadcasting career and says he jumped at the chance to work at the Mighty 690.
The KAB Rising Star Award celebrates emerging broadcasters who have made a significant impact on their stations and communities. To be eligible, nominees must be under the age of 40 at the time of their nomination and must have spent a minimum of one year at a radio or TV station in Kansas. Cadidates for the award are nominated by their co-workers and finalists are chosen based on their contributions to the industry, innovative spirit, and dedication to community involvement.
KGGF won eleven total awards including Station Excellence. The Mighty 690 also took home first place awards for Best Commercial for Phil's Paint and Body and Best Diversity News for Frybread Journeys.
