A jailer at the Wabaunsee County Jail in Alma, KS, is under arrest.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, 48-year-old Jeffery Patrick was arrested around noon Sunday after turning himself in to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office. He is being charged with one count of mistreatment of a confined person.
The charges stem from a K-B-I investigation that began on May 28. The K-B-I was called in by the Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office after reports of a correctional officer taking money from an inmate. The alleged incidents occurred between March and May at the Wabaunsee County Jail, where Patrick served as a correctional officer until he was terminated in June.
Following his arrest, Patrick was booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail in Shawnee.
