The Kansas Coporation Commission approves a settlement agreement allowing Evergy to increase rates in order to recover costs to replace aging equipment.
The agreement was unanimously approved on Thursday morning by the K-C-C. K-C-C General Counsel Brian Fedotin says the agreement will allow Evergy to raise rates.
The new rates will take effect beginning with the October billing cycle. Fedotin says residential customers will see an increase.
K-C-C commissioners found that the agreed upon rates will provide Evergy with sufficient revenues to meet its financial obligations yet will keep rates as low as possible while maintaining reliable service for its customers.
