A 6-year-old boy in western Kansas is injured after being struck by a car while riding his bike.
The accident occurred just before 5pm on Sunday night in the City of Dighton in Lane County, located about 40 miles northeast of Garden City. The driver of a pickup truck told Lane County Sheriff's deputies that the boy had darted out in front of him and he was unable to stop before hitting the child. The boy was injured in the accident and taken to the Lane County Hospital. The driver was tested for signs of impairment and showed no such signs.
The investigation continues to establish a timeline of events in the incident and to determine what, if any, charges will be filed.
