Police in Franklin County, Kansas, are looking for an armed suspect wanted in connection to an aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

The incident began around 7:15 Sunday night when Franklin county Deputies were called to a rural residence located about 2 miles west of the City of Ottawa. A 9-1-1 caller reported that 54-year-old Lester Caleb had been firing a gun on his own property. When the neighbor contacted Caleb to check on his well-being, the neighbor says Caleb threatened him verbally.

When deputies arrived on scene, they were met with gunfire. Caleb was spotted walking on the property but then disappeared from sight. Authorities then called in a helicopter from the Kansas Highway Patrol to help search for the suspect. Nearby neighbors were evacuated from the area as the search continued.

Officers were unable to locate Caleb and continue to search for him. Anyone with information about Lester Caleb's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1. Caleb is considered armed and dangerous.
