The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a Sunday morning incident in Miami that led to a police standoff and a deceased suspect.
The incident began with a traffic accident that occurred just before noon yesterday near the intersection of East Northwest and 4th Streets. A crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle led to an altercation between the two drivers. At one point, the driver of the car pulled a gun and shot the other individual. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim received non-life threatening injuires and took themselves to a nearby hospital.
Police responded to the scene and located the suspect at a nearby residence. The man was given verbal commands and came out of the house with a gun to his head. He did not respond to verbal commands and then pointed the weapon at police and exchanged gunfire. The suspect was struck by the gunfire and later died from his wounds at a hospital. No officers were injured in the exchange.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
