College can be difficult to afford for many high school students from small towns in Kansas and elsewhere in rural America, but one local town is making good on its promise to students and the community.

 

The Neodesha Promise Scholarship provides financial support for graduates of Neodesha High School who are pursuing post-secondary education. The program began in 2019 and, since that time, more than 550 scholarships have been awarded to nearly 200 N-H-S graduates. The program covers tuition and mandatory fees at Pell-grant approved institutions, including both four-year and two-year colleges as well as vocational-technical schools.

 

The N-H-S Class of 2025 included the program’s largest class of recipients since the scholarship’s inception, with 36 graduates receiving funds.

 

The program’s impact continues to grow, proving that when a community invests in its young people, the returns go far beyond the classroom. For Neodesha, the Promise Scholarship isn’t just about covering college costs—it’s about opening doors, building futures, and showing that even in small towns, big dreams are more than possible.
