OHP Trooper Injured During Pursuit

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper is recovering in a hospital after a crash during a high-speed pursuit last week.

Trooper Hayden Darst suffered serious injuries last Wednesday during a car chase on US-77 in Carter County near Ardmore. The suspect had fled Ardmore Police around 5pm, heading east on US-70 when assistance was requested from O-H-P. Darst responded to the call and began to set up a tactical intervention when the suspect deliberately turned his vehicle into Darst’s cruiser. Both cars crashed and Darst’s vehicle then caught fire. Responding crews pulled the Trooper from his vehicle and he was transported to a nearby hospital.

The suspect was also taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked into the Carter County Detention Center where he faces multiple charges including causing great bodily injury while fleeing police and DUI.
