The Montgomery County Commission is set to meet today to discuss the 2026 budget for the Rural Fire Department.

 

At today’s meeting, commissioners are expected to approve Rural Fire’s budget of just over $700,000 with a revenue neutral rate of 2.739. District Rural Fire Chief Michael Smith will also present his quarterly report to the commission. County I-T Director Jason Clubine will also give the quarterly report from his department.

 

In other business, County Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson will appear along with Jeremy Hunsucker of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will discuss cell phone plan options for county employees. Commissioners will also address several requests from citizens for neighborhood revitalization.

 

Today’s meeting begins at 9am in the Commission Room on the lower level of the Judicial Center in Independence. The public is invited to attend in person or to view the meeting online via the County’s website.
