Independence Registry Open for Those with Cognitively Vulnerable Loved Ones

Independence residents who have a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or another condition that affects their ability to communicate when lost or disoriented can now find peace of mind through a new registry offered by the Independence Police Department.

The City of Independence, Kansas – Take Me Home Registry allows family members of vulnerable adults to sign up their loved ones in the event that that person is found wandering or needs assistance. Using the registry, officers can quickly access their photo and information to get them home safely.

Sign up is free, voluntary, and completely confidential. The registry is designed to give families peace of mind.
