The City of Altamont approves reimbursement costs for citizens who will be required to move their gas meters due to a city sidewalk project.

The installation of a new sidewalk in the city funded through a Transportation Alternatives grant from the state will require residents along the proposed path to move their gas meters. At the most recent meeting of the Altamont City Council, council members approved a measure that would reimburse citizens for the cost of the move. Council member Kyle Wiford says the money will come from a fund set aside for this purpose.

The City will send out mailers to residents who will be required to move their meters and a special council meeting will be scheduled in the future to allow citizens to ask questions and get more information about the process.
