Kansas Commerce Assistant Secretary of Quality Places Matt Godinez is elected to serve on the  Board of Directors of the International Economic Development Council or IEDC.

The IEDC is the largest nonprofit organization of its kind, bringing together leaders from government, business, education, and other nonprofits to support fair and lasting economic growth. As a member of the board of directors, Godinez will help guide national and international plans for economic development, while making sure Kansas’ needs and viewpoints are heard. His role will give Kansas a greater say in important conversations about community growth, job training, support for rural areas, and infrastructure improvements.

Godinez was confirmed by the IEDC board during the organization’s annual conference in Detroit on Sunday. His two-year term will begin on January 1.
