Rental Rates to Increase for Logan Park Community Building

Rental rates for the Logan Park Community Building are going up.

The building was the center of much discussion at last night's Cherryvale City Council Meeting. City Clerk Karen Davis says the current rental rates have been in place as long as she remembers.

The Council approved increasing the rates to $50 for the rental fee with a refundable $25 deposit.  The rate increase won't impact anyone who has already reserved the building.

Sharon and Wayne Blaes with the fair board addressed the Council regarding the floor in the building, saying they've tried several attempts over the years to improve it without much luck.

Blaes says estimates to epoxy or seal the flood came back at $28,000 and $21,000, respectively. All parties agreed that those costs were high and council members and City Manager Michael Hall agreed to look into other options for the floor, including possible grant funding.

In other business, the Council gave approval for Police Chief Jimmy Holt to explore a contract with the Sheriff's Department on a Flock camera contract in an effort to hold the yearly cost the city pays for its camera at $3,000.
