Multiple individuals are honored in Independence for their life-saving efforts.
Nine people were recognized with life-saving awards from the City of Independence for their efforts in providing quick and effcient medical attention to a man who suffered a cardiac arrest on July 21. Independence Fire/EMS Chief Aaron Cook made the presentation at last week's city commission meeting. Cook says the work of everyone involved shows their commitment to the community.
Independence Mayor Scott Smith says those honored are a source of pride for the City.
Those who were presented certificates of award are Paramedics Chris Furr, Jonathan Johnson, and Aaron Cook, EMT Mikel Woldum, Nurse Practitioner Matt Bogle, Registered Nurses Ashley Goins, Michelle Vogts, Christine Bowman, and ER Tech Faith Knight.
The attending cardiologist at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital stated that the patient would not have survived without the efforts of these individuals.
