Three 15-year-old students at Maize High School, a Wichita suburb located northwest of the city, are arrested following the discovery of a gun in a backpack.

The incident occurred last Thursday afternoon. No threats were made and the weapon was not brandished. Two of the suspects were taken into juvenile detention and a third was ordered to appear in court. Police were called to the school by office staff after reports of the weapon were made. Maize High School has an enrollment of 1,300 students but does not have metal detectors. The school was not placed on lockdown during the incident.
