A suspect is in custody following a police chase yesterday in southwest Missouri.
Carthage Police say the pursuit began just after noon when an officer attempted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver. Instead of coming to a stop, the driver fled. Police pursued the vehicle along I-49 out of Carthage, but the car then changed directions, at which time the Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle. The male driver was then taken into custody. He faces charges of driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and driving on a revoked license.
His name has not yet been released.
