The Fort Smith Police Department signs a cross-deputization agreement with the Choctaw Nation.

The agreement establishes mutual aid and cross-jurisdictional cooperation between F-S-P-D and the Choctaw Nation's Lighthorse Police Department. The move is intended to strengthen law enforcement coverage in from Fort Smith to land owned by the Choctaw Nation.

The two groups inked the agreement late last week.
