Several area towns will commemorate the 24th anniversary of 9/11 this morning.
In Coffeyville, there will be a Patriot Day Memorial at 11am at Ford Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The event will feature an appreciation lunch for local first responders.
In Independence, VFW Post #1186 is offering a free breakfast and lunch for first responders from 6am to 2pm.
In Howard, the public is invited to join American Legion Post #149 and the students of West Elk High School as they mark the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack. Today's ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial in Jackson Park in Howard. That ceremony begins at 9am.
