The Parsons Police Department apprehends a suspect after receiving an alert from the Flock Safety license plate recognition system.
Monday at around 5:30pm, A PPD officer received an alert from the Flock system identifying a stolen gray Lexus traveling eastbound on Highway 400 near Jackson Road. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Midlothian, Texas. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on Cattle Drive. When approached, the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Khaalid Rashard Lathrop-Ragland, attempted to evade officers on foot. After a brief pursuit through the wooded area near Tolen Creek, Lathrop-Ragland was taken into custody.
During the investigation, officers found two handguns inside the stolen Lexus, along with personal property linking Lathrop-Ragland to the vehicle. The firearms were secured. Lathrop-Ragland was arrested and booked on charges of possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and interference with law enforcement.
