Budget talks continue this week in Nowata County.

 

A recent budget worksheet for fiscal year 2025-26 showed a $71,000 deficit. Commissioner Troy Friddle and County Emergency Management Director Laurie Summer discussed the possibility of using contingency funds to erase that deficit. Friddle says they have used the fund for a variety of purposes.

 

In other business, commissioners discussed the Preserving and Advancing County Transportation or PACT fund. Money from the fund has been split equally between each district of the county. Friddle says redistricting plays a factor in the allocation of funds.

 

The board decided to allocate the funding based on the amount of miles of road in each county, instead population.
