The expansion at the Labette Health Independence Healthcare Center is officially open.

 

Nearly one hundred people braved the rainy weather on Firday afternoon to gather in the parking lot of the health care facility on Peter Pan Road in Independence to witness the ribbon-cutting and dedication of the $7.3 million facility. Many local officials and dignitaries were on hand to witness the ceremony. Kansas Senator Jerry Moran was the featured guest speaker. Moran says rural America is an important part of our nation.

 

Moran says healthcare is a big part of preserving the rural parts of the country.

 

Other dignitaries in attendance included Independence Mayor Scott Smith, State Representatives Dr. Ron Bryce and Dan Goddard, and State Senator Virgil Peck. Following the ceremony, attendees were given tours of the facility.
