Second Suspect Arrested in AR School Shooting Threat

A second suspect is arrested in connection to threats made against an Arkansas school earlier this week.

The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 15-year-old student on charges of threatening to commit an act of mass violence on school property against the Hackett Public Schools, located just south of Fort Smith. This suspect joins a 14-year-old male who was arrested Monday in the case and faces the same charge.

Rumors of the threat began circulating on Monday while students were off due to Labor Day. Officials say the threatening messages indicated that a shooting would occur at 9am Tuesday at the school. Students returned to classes on Tuesday with a heightened security presence.

The two suspects in the case have both been charged with a felony offense.
