Tax revenues for the State of Kansas during the month of august are nearly 4% above estimates.
That's the latest from the Kansas Division of Budget, which shows the total tax intake last month at just over $692 million. That total is a 4% increase from a year ago. Other indicators were also strong, including individual income tax collections which were 4.7% above estimates and nearly 10% higher than 20204. Combined retail sales and compensating ise tax receipts were also up while corporate income tax collections fell 10% from this time last year.
Governor Laura Kelly called the stronger-than-expected tax collections evidence of the strength of the State's work to attract business investment and workforce development. Kelly said that, while she welcomed the good economic news, she remains concerned about the state budget's impact on the long-term financial health of the state.
