An Oologah school bus transporting students is involved in a fatal accident.

 

The crash occurred around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon on US-169 near the intersection with 370 Road between Oologah and Talala. A pickup truck rear ended the school bus as it was stopped on the highway to let kids off. No students were injured in the accident, but the driver of the truck suffered fatal injuries.

 

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of a pickup was identified as 66-year-old David W. Witty South Coffeyville.

 

All of the students on the bus were cleared by paramedics before being returned to the upper elementary school to be released to their parents.

 

Oologah-Talala School Superintendent David Wilkins stated that it was fortunate no children were hurt and that this is a reminder to all drivers to remain cautious around school buses.
