The Montgomery County Commission will hold a work session to discuss the disbursement of opioid settlement frunds for two local charities.

Representatives from Hannah's House Ministries and Home Sweet Home Inc. spoke before the commission at this week's meeting to request funds. Hannah's House Executive Director Amanda Heath and Home Sweet Home Director Chris Mitchell say their groups have helped more than a thousand residents in Montgomery County.

The county currently has $77,000 available. Commissioner Mike Cordray says the commission needs to examine the best way for that money to be given out.

Commissioners opted for a work session, with a decision on the matter expected at Monday's meeting. In other business, it was announced that the revenue-neutral rate hearing and 2026 budget hearing would occurr at the September 15 meeting.
