A Neosho man is under arrest after being stopped for suspicion of impaired driving with a child in his car.

 

Police arrested 37-year-old Franklin Ioanis of Neosho last week after a traffic stop revealed he was under the influence of Kava, a depressant with effects similar to alcohol. The suspect was pulled over after his vehicle was seen swerving, driving in the middle of the road, and braking for no apparent reason.

 

During the stop Ioanis admittred to consuming a large amout of Kava before driving and field sobriety tests indicated that he was impaired. A child was also found in the backseat of the car. The child was not in a car seat and was also not wearing a seat belt.

 

Ioanis faces multiple charges including driving while intoxicated with a person under 17 in the vehicle and child endagerment.
