***** Update 7:25 p.m. *****
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through 11 p.m. for the following counties in southeast Kansas:
Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson, Woodson.
Storm timing is expected after 9 p.m. for southeast Kansas, with 2 inch + size hail and damaging winds the main concern if storms develop in our area. The storms are expected to be widely scattered, so not all areas will see thunderstorm development.
***** Original Story *****
Severe weather is possible this afternoon and evening, mainly for central and northeast Kansas, although there is still a marginal chance of severe weather in the four-state area.
The area from Wichita to Chanute and areas north have a better chance of seeing storm development, which could include hail up to golf-ball size. Wind gusts up to 60 mph and brief heavy rain is also possible between 4 and 10 p.m. today.
KGGF will provide severe weather coverage tonight if storms threaten the area.
