A small plane crashes early Saturday morning in Douglas County, about two miles north of Baldwin City.
The plane was piloted by 26-year-old Arnold Nguyen of Kansas City. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the 1978 fixed-wing, single-engine Cessna landed long and failed to stop on the runway. The plane then crossed the roadway to the north of the landing strip and crashed into a tree. The pilot was uninjured in the crash.
The plane was originally discovered at the crash site near the Vinland Valley Aerodrome, but no occupants of the plane were found. K-H-P troopers were eventually able to locate the pilot and piece together the timeline of the accident.
