A southwest Missouri city impeaches it mayor and removes him from office.
This week, the City of Carl Junction Board of Aldermen voted to remove Carl Junction Mayor Mike Moss from office. The vote came following several nights of an impeachment hearing to address complaints against Moss of workplace harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Several City employees gave testimony during the hearings, stating that the Mayor's behavior took a toll on their mental health, morale, and their ability to work. Moss' legal team maintained that the hearings were not about harassment, but were instead about removing an elected official from office.
A resolution was passed that immediately removed Moss from office. The office will remain vacant until the Board of Aldermen appoints a replacement. A special election will be held in April to find a permanent replacement for the Mayor.
