Oklahoma Launches Campaign to Increase Seat belt Use

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority are launching a new campaign aimed at increasing seat belt use across the state.

The state's Never Skip the Click campaign is about turning the small act of buckling up into a habit. Oklahoma ranks 44th in the nation in the use of seat belts and falls well below the national average of 91% usage among drivers and passengers. Males aged 16 and older are especially at risk because seat belt usage in that demographic group is around 77%. Statistics show that nearly half of all fatal crashes involve someone who was not wearing a seat belt.

ODOT, OTA, and law enforcement agencies across the State of Oklahoma remind all travelers to buckle up this holiday weekend and to protect themselves and their loved ones on every single car trip.
