Firefighters in Baxter Springs respond to a structure fire at a vacant house.
The blaze occurred just before 5:30 Wednesday morning in the 500 block of West 8th Street. Fire crews arrived to find the vacant house showing both smoke and flames. After determining that no one was inside the house, crews began work to extinguish the fire. Authorities say the fire appeared to be mostly confined to the attic. The house had been recently condemned by the City and was set to be demolished. When the fire was out, crews from Baxter Public Works began the process of demolishing the house.
No injuries were reported.
