Several Flood Warnings Issued for area including Montgomery County

A flash flood warning has been issued for northeastern Chautauqua County and southern Montgomery County through 10:30.  This includes Coffeyville, Independence, Caney, Dearing, Elk City, Tyro, Havana, Boltaon, Independence Airport, Elk City Lake, Elk City State Park and Hale.

A flood warning is now in place for Chautauqua and Montgomery County through 2 p.m. today. At 5:33 a.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Up to 4 inches of rain has fallen overnight, with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible this morning.

 

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in the immediate KGGF listening area where minor flooding is forecast:

 

Verdigris River at Altoona affecting Wilson County.

Verdigris River at Independence affecting Montgomery and Wilson Counties.

Neosho River near Chanute affecting Neosho and Allen Counties.

Fall River at Fredonia affecting Wilson County.

Verdigris River near Lenapah affecting Nowata County.

 

A flash flood warning has also been issued for much of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through 9:30 this morning, including Nowata County and northern Washington County.
