CVHS Football Stadium Secure.... For Now

A special meeting of the USD-436 Caney school board leads to an update on the current structure and stability of the football stadium.

A presentation by Dudley Williams and Associates Vice President Jon Lucas focused on preliminary factors that could tell how much deterioration has taken place since the latest repairs were made.

Lucas says the structure itself seems to be able to handle the upcoming football season, but water and drainage issues are causing the structure to weaken. He says major repairs need to happen sooner than later, if the stadium remains in operation, but also states that major updates need to be made for ADA accessibility.

Caney Superintendent Blake Vargas, who was not given any information before the special meeting, says he is pleased with the in-depth information.

Vargas says the difficult part of the project will be balance of history and safety.

The discussion about the findings on the stadium, as well as the 2026 budget are on the agenda at next month's meeting, set for Monday, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. At the Board of Education Office, 700 East Bullpup Boulevard in Caney.
