The suspect in a weekend hit-and-run accident in Garden City is arrested following a brief scuffle with police.

 

Authorities say 22-year-old Jorge Cardenas was arrested around 10:30 on Saturday night. He was located by officers from the Garden City Police Department after being identified as the driver of a pick-up truck that struck a tree and then fled the scene on foot. When he was approached by officers, officers say Cardenas became combative and struck several officers before being taken into custody.

 

He was booked into the Finney County Jail in Garden City where he faces multiple charges, including battery, assault, transporting an open container, and duty to report an accident.

 

No officers were injured during the arrest.
