Independence High School is ranked as one of the top twenty high schools in the State of Kansas by U.S. News and World Report.
The national magazine rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The schools were ranked based on six factors, including graduation rates, proficiencies in basic skills, and college readiness.
IHS is listed as 3,284th overall with an 87% graduation rank. Other area schools in the top 100 in Kansas are Chanute at #38, West Elk in Howard at #45, Caney at #69, and Baxter Springs at #77. Five of the top 10 schools in the state are in the Overland Park/Blue Valley school district.
