A motorcyclist is dead after striking a guardrail on I-235 in Wichita.

51-year-old Jess Chavez was traveling on I-235 through the City of Wichita near West Street around 11:30 on Friday night. His Harley-Davidson motorcycle entered the median and struck a guardrail, throwing Chavez from the bike, causing his to impact another guardrail and a fence. The motorcycle continued driverless into the oncoming lanes of traffic before striking another fence.

Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.
