One woman is dead and two others are injured following an accident on US-400 just north of Fredonia.
The accident occurred around 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the intersection of US-400 and Harper Road. A 2014 Chevy Traverse driven by 82-year-old Shirley Martin of Buffalo was traveling southbound on Harper Road and failed to yield at the stop sign. Her vehicle was struck by a 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by 36-year-old Brittany Sweet of Wichita. Martin suffered fatal injuries in the accident, while Sweet was seriously injured. A passenger in Sweet’s vehicle, 28-year-old Mariah Tucker of Belle Plaine, also sustained serious injuries. Both were taken via helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment. A third female in Sweet’s car was uninjured.
