The Kansas Bureau of Investigation finds no criminal wrongdoing in the case of a Dodge City Community College athlete who collapsed during hot weather.
The 19-year-old female student is a member of the Dodge City Community College cross-country team and was discovered unconscious in a field near the school on August 7th. The woman was unconscious when she was found and taken to a local hospital. She was then flown to a Wichita hospital to be treated for heat-related injuries.
The Ford County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the K-B-I on August 12 when aspects of the incident appeared suspicious. After an investigation, agents concluded that there was no evidence that a criminal act had occurred.
The student remains in serious condition at a Wichita hospital.
