Residents in Sedan will soon be seeing an increase in their water rates.
The City of Sedan has announced the increase due to a recent rate adjustment by the City's water supplier, Public Wholesale Water Supply District #20. P-W-W-S-D 20 has raised the cost of water purchases, which directly affects operating expenses for its municipal customers. City Treasurer Raven Darnall says the City has been losing money on water utilities for some time.
Prior to this increase, the City has been losing about $1,000 a month in water purchases. The new rates that the City Council has set at $5 on the minimum cost will help offset those losses. The new rates will be effective on September 20.
