A Mulvane man is dead after being struck by a vehicle after slipping and falling in a roadway yesterday afternoon.

 

The accident happened at an intersection just east of the Kansas Turnpike in southern Sedwick County around 3:45 yesterday afternoon. The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash and says it appears the 48-year-old victim stopped his own vehicle on the road in order to shut off an irrigation system. The man slipped and fell in the street, but was struck by a vehicle when he tried to get up. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
